George Douglas Wilson

George leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Anita Wilson (née Griffith) of Niagara Falls; his son Daryl Wilson, daughter-in-law Shellie Wilson, and cherished granddaughter Alexis Wilson, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his sisters Joanne Weeks of Hamilton and Janet Russello (Charlie) of Hamilton, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored spending time with their Uncle George, also known as “Bo” to many.

Born to Ross and Mabel Wilson, and raised on his family farm in Hannon, Ontario, George developed the strong work ethic, practical wisdom, and easygoing nature that would define his life. He went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from McMaster University and began his career with Horton CBI in 1972. Over a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, George remained with the company until his retirement in 2014. His work took him throughout Canada, including Alberta, and internationally to London, England, and Paris, France.

George was an enthusiastic sportsman who enjoyed golf, baseball, and hockey. While he loved participating in many sports, curling was his true passion. A dedicated curler, he was equally committed to supporting the sport and volunteered on numerous occasions at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts championships.

George embraced life with a smile, a quick wit, and a gift for making every gathering more enjoyable. Summers spent at the family cottage were among his happiest times, where he became famous for creating “extreme” croquet and bocce courses that challenged and entertained family and friends alike.

George's kindness, sense of humour, and light-hearted spirit brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his laughter, generosity, and the countless happy memories he created with family and friends.

Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 11am-1pm with a Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 1pm. Cremation to follow.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
