Gerald Byers

BYERS, Gerald – With saddened hearts we inform you of the peaceful death of Gerry in his 88th year, on Saturday February 27, 2016, following four years of nightly dialysis, at Arbour Creek Long Term Care. Beloved husband and Best Friend of Betty Jane (Howells-Ward) for 61 years. Loving father of Laura Russell (Patrick) and Nancy (predeceased). Survived by loved grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Patricia and great-granddaughter Jasmine. Son of the late Bill and Reda Byers, brother of Margaret (deceased) and Katherine Noon. Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gerry will be missed by his family and friends. He was a long time employee of Bridge and Tank and Morrison Engineering. Our grateful thanks to the nurses and staff of Arbour Creek for their kind and loving care of Gerry. We greatly appreciate the compassionate efforts and support from St. Joseph’s Peritoneal Dialysis Unit staff, nurses and physicians, Dr. Ludwin, Dr. Brimble and his longtime family physician, Dr. Mark Levy.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation in Gerry’s memory will be held at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main St. E. (just east of Sanford), on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be made to the SPCA or The Kidney Foundation of Ontario (1559 Hurontario Street, Suite 201, Mississauga, ON L5G 4S1).
