Doug passed away peacefully on December 16, 2019 in his 81st year, with his wife and sons by his side. Loving husband of Diane (nee Fleming) for 57 years. He will be greatly missed by his sons Curt (Pamela), Craig (Lisa), and granddaughter Valerie. Survived by brother David Leaist, predeceased by sister Donna Deming.
Doug loved the outdoors, especially the peace and tranquility at Hay Lake where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a proud Stelco employee who worked 32 years in the #1 Bar Mill.
Cremation and private interment will take place at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday January 4 at 6:30pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 57 Delaware Ave Hamilton.
The family extends their gratitude to the emergency, neurology and vascular teams at Hamilton General for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton General Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
