Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at Extendicare Hamilton on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in her 94th year.
Irene was the beloved wife of the late Robert Carroll (1958) and the late Ronald Devison (2011). She was the proud and devoted mother of William "Bill" Carroll (Gabrielle) and Wayne Carroll (Amy). Rosanne Gibson always held a special place in Irene's heart. She was the dear sister of Herve, Stella, Josephat, and Geraldine, and was predeceased by six siblings. Irene was a loving grandmother to Melissa, David, Jennifer, and Allyson, and a much loved great grandmother to Layla, Isaac, Isabella, Zack, Maddy, and Josh. She will be forever remembered with love by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends throughout Canada and the United States.
During her nearly 94 years, Irene built a life rich in love, faith, and family. Caring for those she loved was always her greatest priority, and her unwavering faith gave her strength throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, quiet strength, and the deep love she shared with those closest to her.
A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Extendicare Concession House for the compassion given to Irene.
In keeping with Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home – Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until the Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A private inurnment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated.
