Irene Lohwinow

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Basil Lohwinow (2020), and a loving and devoted mother to George and Lucy. She was a cherished Doba to Dominique and a proud Great Baba to Nevie and Lydia, who brought her immense joy. Predeceased by her five sisters and one brother in the Ukraine.

She will be lovingly remembered by her extended family, dear friends, neighbours, and former coworkers, all of whom were touched by her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit.

Irene was a talented pastry chef whose exceptional baking was enjoyed by countless people during her years at the renowned Chicken Roost Restaurant in Hamilton and later at Carmen's Banquet Centre. Her passion for cooking and baking was matched only by her dedication to her community.

A faithful and devoted member of the Sisterhood at the Russian Orthodox Church on Sanford Avenue, Irene lovingly prepared countless meals for parish gatherings and took great pride in tending the church and Carmen's gardens. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a source of strength and comfort throughout her years.

Irene had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her gentle heart, infectious smile, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Above all else, she treasured her family, whose love was the greatest blessing of her long and well-lived life.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Holy Protection of the Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church, 77 Sanford Avenue South, Hamilton on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Spring Garden Road, Burlington.
