OBITUARY

Ivan Jakljevic

21 May, 1932 – 26 August, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Markey-Dermody Funeral Home

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Ivan Jakljevic on August 26, 2026. Ivan was born in Croatia on May 21, 1932.

We, the family, were blessed to have had Ivan in our lives. A son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ivan is survived by his daughter Adrienne, her partner Paul Jackson and three grandsons that he was so very proud of, Brock, Brennan and Blair Battochio, as well as family in Croatia.

People close to Ivan knew Ivan to be very stoic, but most importantly, loved his family fiercely. The stories he would tell of his life showed his leadership, love, dedication, determination and integrity. Lessons in life we can only try to emulate. Gratitude was huge for Ivan. He showed and felt gratitude for every little thing every day. He always said he was “lucky”. Good things usually did come to Ivan and we’re sure his outlook was the reason why.

His stories of his life and courage will always be treasured. He was a huge part of our lives and will stay in our hearts and minds forever! He was our ICON!

Ivan was predeceased by his wife Katica. We will be missing Ivan every day, but we will smile and feel blessed with gratitude that we got to experience such a special human!

A private service has taken place. Interment was held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. Online condolences can be made at www.markeydermody.com
