Jim was the beloved husband of Donna McMillan for 43 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered around love, family, adventure, and unforgettable memories. He was a proud and devoted father to Scott McMillan (Yvonne McMillan), Amanda McMillan (partner Pier Ouellet), and Sarah McMillan (Nathan Dunlop). Jim was also a loving grandfather to Kelsey McMillan, Thomas McMillan, Sybil Dunlop, and Sorcha Dunlop. He was predeceased by his grandson Logan McMillan.
Jim was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter, who will be here any day. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Mary and John McMillan, and by his sister Janette Patrick. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law Doug Little (Beverly Little) and their children Brent Little and Elaine Little, as well as his sister-in-law Gail Little. He also leaves behind his loyal family dog, Murray.
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Jim never lost his accent, charm, or love of storytelling. His warm personality drew people in everywhere he went, and he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Jim retired from Edson, where he worked as a dedicated service technician. His career allowed him to travel the world, visiting places such as Australia, Saudi Arabia, Peru, and throughout the United States. Through his work and travel rewards, he created many special opportunities for his family to experience vacations and adventures together.
Jim had a passion for motorbikes and motorbike racing, enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his son Scott, faithfully supported Glasgow Rangers soccer, and never missed an episode of Coronation Street. More than anything, Jim loved spending time with his family. Whether camping, visiting theme parks, taking tropical vacations, or simply heading out on long drives, he treasured every moment spent creating memories with the people he loved most.
Jim worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family and ensure their lives were filled with joy, experiences, and love. He loved to sing to himself, share stories from his travels, and reminisce about the many places and people he encountered along the way.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his many close friends here and back in Glasgow, his workmates, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, especially the nurses, doctors, and social workers, who made Jim’s final days comfortable with the utmost kindness, compassion, and care.
Keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please check back to the obituary for future event details.
