It's with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a sweet wife, mother, and grandmother on Saturday August 15, 2015 in her 90th year. Jean was the beloved wife of her husband Vince for the past 61 years. She was the cherished mother of Les and his wife Mary, Natalie and her husband Ron Duda, and Rose and her husband Chester Szypula. Grandma will be missed by her grandchildren Derek Palango and his wife Ashlee, David Collins, Samantha, Ethan and Sydney Szypula and Angel Aaron. Jean was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Rose Toth, her sister Rhoda Selagi and her husband Steve, her sister Louise Irwin and her husband Hector, and by her brothers Leslie, Joseph, and Theodore. She is survived by her sister Margaret Toth. Also missed by many relatives in Western Canada and in Hamilton. Jean was a no nonsense woman who wouldn't let anyone tell her what to do! She never met a deck of cards she didn't like and had a heart of gold. Her extended family were familiar with her love of the Blue Jays and her feisty nature. Visitation at the Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) in Hamilton on Tuesday August 18th from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Vigil prayers on Tuesday at 3:30pm. Jean's funeral mass is on Wednesday August 19th at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, King Street East at London Street in Hamilton. Donations in memory of Jean can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society.
