BERT CREARY (JOHN ALBERT) Nov. 9, 1936 - April 18, 2016 In Hamilton, at home, and after a life well lived “Joanie’s” husband, our dad, Grampa and Great Grampa bade farewell. With his humour intact (a bit ‘ticked’ with how long this took) Bert left us to be reunited with family and friends who have gone before in faith. He leaves behind his adored wife of 57 years Joan Anne (nee Tiveron) and his well-loved five children and their spouses, Louanne Clitsome (Mark), John (Colleen), Beth (Ray Otten), Theresa Lacharity (Joe) and Matt (Lee), his fifteen grandchildren, Grant (Val), Scott and Eric (Clitsome), Katie (Mike Sicilia), Taylor (Corey Wigle), and Jonathon (Creary), Gary, Grace and Krista (Otten), Jacob, Peter, ‘Becca and David (Lacharity), Alex and Erica (Creary) and three great grandchildren. None of the apples fell far from the tree, and he couldn’t have been more proud of any one of his children or grandchildren, the partners they chose and the lives they lived. He was predeceased by his brothers Jimmy Creary and Ronnie Revelle, and leaves behind his sister Joan Lee, and many nieces and nephews. For 63 years he was an ardent and active member of UA Local 67 (Plumbing and Pipefitting), acting as President and Board member, and enjoying until the end the Local 67 “Seniors” with whom he and Joan had many memorable outings, trips and socials. He loved his time and the constant kibitzing with the Halton Navy Club Golfers; he was active within Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the Knights of Columbus; and in the late 60’s and 70’s he spent many happy hours as a minor sports coach of lacrosse, hockey and baseball. We had so many fantastic years and memories together, in a house (or often a tent) filled with music, love, family and friends. All were welcome. We thought we were rich and we wanted for nothing. Our hearts are heavy at this time, but we are left with a lifetime of love and values that will continue to live on in us and future generations; our actions will always speak louder than our words. Special thanks to his doctors Ohson and Tashkandi and more recently the CCAC VON nurses and support workers, and C.A.P. for their care and assistance. The family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 416 Mohawk Rd. E. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with cremation following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CAP (Cancer Assistance Program).
