John Krawec

Peacefully passed away in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Friday, November 27, 2015 at the age of 94. Reunited with his beloved wife Frieda Anna (1994). Loving father of daughter, Linda and her husband Larry Bilyk and grandfather of Alexander and his wife, Jen. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews in Canada, USA and Ukraine.

John was born in Zashkovychi, Ukraine and grew up near Horodok, Ukraine. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Michael and Mary and his siblings, Kataryna, and Vasyl.

John came to Halifax, Canada in 1949. He worked in the Kapuskasing lumber camps for 3 years. He moved to Toronto and then Hamilton where he worked at National Steel Car building railway grain cars. He lived in Hamilton 59 years before moving up to Thunder Bay in June 2015. One of his greatest joys was attending his grandson Alex and Jen’s wedding in August 2015.

Visitation will be held at the Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) in Hamilton, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington.
