Born in SELO JOHI, Croatia May 29, 1925, John emigrated to Canada at the age of 12 with his parents; settling in Kirkland Lake Ontario where he later met and married Anne Tomac in 1952.
John was a machinist and took employment with Crane Packing Ltd where he was shop general foreman. Together with Anne they opened the Busy Bee Variety store a few years later.
Retiring in 1988, John enjoyed spending his winters at the Florida home he built with his brother-in-law.
An avid “do it yourselfer”; he was adored by his loving family who kept him busy with numerous projects.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Anne (Tomac) Novosel.
Loving father of Brian (Elizabeth), and Marianne (Dennis). Cherished grandfather of David Novosel (Roisin), Tajana Centis Olson (Kyle), Mark Novosel (Samantha), Davis Centis (Carolina) and Melissa Novosel. Great grandpa to Kail, Liam, Vera, David, Spencer and Callum.
Dear son of Slavko and Mandy Novosel (predeceased). Dear brother to Anne Kratofil ( Stan) (predeceased) and will be especially missed by his brother Edward Novosel.
Sadly missed by the many nephews, nieces, cousins and family members whose company he enjoyed.
Family and friends are welcome to Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), for visitation on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, 304 HWY 8, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
