

This week, John was welcomed into the arms of his Saviour, Jesus Christ. He leaves his loving wife, Ann, of almost 60 years (Sept. 17, 1960) and will be greatly missed by his five daughters, Caroline (Don) Patenaude, Linda (Richard) Helmer, Elizabeth (Rob) Levesque, Joanne (Barry) Thomson, and Judy (Eckhard) Methner; his 15 grandchildren, Matt (Lindsay) Levesque, Jonathan (Courtney) Levesque, James Levesque, Al Thomson, Andrew Levesque, Jordan (Brittany) Levesque, Mike Thomson, Melody (Zack) Mooibroek, Joshua (Richelle) Methner, Jason Levesque (pre-deceased, 2005), Ruth (Mike) Biss, Melissa Helmer, Stephanie Methner, Daniel Canning, and Zack Canning; and 8 great grandchildren, Ava, Wyatt, Caleb, Ariyah, Liam, Gracen, Ivanna, and Jude; as well as John’s brothers Arthur (Karen), Allan (Flo), Gordon (Anne), Bill (Donelda), and their families.
John faithfully served at the following churches: Kenilworth United, St. Paul’s United (Metz), Bethel United (Mount Forest), Louth & Glenview United (St. Catharines), Smooth Rock Falls United, Fraserdale Community Church, Drayton United, Glen Allen United, Hagersville United, Springvale United, Vittoria Baptist, Port Rowan Baptist, and Word of Faith (Hamilton).
He established Bethesda Christian Centre/Academy (Ancaster) and Cathedral Christian Academy (Toronto), and introduced novice parents to sound homeschooling techniques and curricula. He served as Vice President of Canada Christian College School of Graduate Theological Studies where he taught Hebrew, Greek, Hermeneutics, Theology, and other subjects for 46 years. With a vision from God, John built a Christian retreat centre on his beloved 288 acre buffalo farm near Cayuga. John consistently looked for ways in which he could be of service to his community, including building and operating a food bank for those in need for almost 20 years.It is impossible for us to count just how many lives were touched by this humble man of God.
Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, on Thursday, August 27th from 5-8pm. Celebration of life to be held by invitation only at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle on Friday, August 28th. We would like to express our appreciation to all who helped cared for John, especially nurse Linda.
