Pastor Jon was an amazing human. I am saddened to hear of his passing. He worked tirelessly to help others. Left a lasting impression on myself and so many. Thank you Pastor Jon from the bottom of our hearts.

Our family is still in shock from the news of our Beloved Pastor,sheperd passing. He was an amazing man. Baptized my Son and we loved him. We moved up North in 2003 to go into our music ministry Which Pastor Jon blessed. We used the "warehouse" over the years, to write and record music. We did many specials over the years.. I don’t know where to begin. I was shocked and heartbroken when I saw on Facebook that Pastor Jon had passed away. In 1991 he and his family came to Centermount Alliance Church as my Pastor. Then to Parkview Church. Through the years I came to love this family so much. So many memories come to my mind of Pastor Jon. I had the privilege to work with Pastor Jon with Compassion Ministries we would have many deep conversations about people and the need for this ministry. Pastor Jon was my Pastor my Friend and Brother in Christ . To Charlene Jay and Angela and Family thank you for sharing Jon with us. The last time I was back home Jon told me I think I am going to have every woman in Church have blue and purple hair. Lol.  His eyes lit up when I would surprise everyone by walking into church. I moved away in 2012 but Pastor Jon was still my Pastor and Parkview my home church.   You were always in my thoughts and mind as I missed my beloved Pastor and Church. Jon you were the best Pastor ever to grace us with your life and gifts and dreams that God laid on your heart. You ran an incredible race now enjoying Heaven with the saints. You will be missed and your legacy will forever remain in my heart.  Thank you for being my Pastor my Friend and Brother in Christ. My  thoughts and prayers are with you Charlene Jay Angela and family.  Love you all. Pastor Jon see you at Home someday and thank you for your gentle loving compassionate life that will forever be  in my heart.   You will be missed and when I come back for a visit to Parkview Church your presence will be there and your legacy will be carried on by those who continue to run the race to serve as You did Pastor Jon.

My family and I are so grateful to the Pastor for all that he did for our family and for my mom Lil. He attended all of her oncology appointments and soothed her when she despaired. That’s in addition to providing my mom with a home in his heart and at Parkview church. Lil loved working with Pastor because she believed in the mission. But more so, his dedication to the community was contagious. Her remaining years were filled with purpose, fun, and love because of his friendship and support. 

May your memories of Pastor help you on your darkest days. And knowing he earned a special place in heaven at the hand of the Lord.

Words cannot be put together well enough for what John has done for the hopeless, hungry, unclothed, sick, and others who needed him. John did this for one simple reason… We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. (Proverbs 28:27) Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed. John lacked nothing other than a consistent work schedule as God was always throwing new plans in front of John. I don’t know what God gave this man to be able to help and continue for as long as he did but I envy how often he put others in front of himself even if it meant straining himself. John gave many of us the first few stones to building our home on the rock. (Mathew 7:24-25) [The winds blew and beat against that house yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.] I cannot wait to see that big ear to ear smile when he see’s all the people he’s brought into heaven.

Dear family of Jon,
When Jon's sister Joani informed me that he had gone to be with the LORD, my mind was flooded with so many memories of him being a wonderful cousin. I was a "young cousin" and Joani and Jon were the older cousins I looked up to and wanted to be like. His mama was like a second mom to me. I remember that when he was growing up he had a picture in his room that said, "Jesus, Savior pilot me."  When I was a nursing student in college, he gave me sound counsel at a time I needed it. The last time I saw Jon was at his sister Joani's wedding about 20 years ago. I've shared the obituary with my children so they will know what a wonderful, Godly man they are related to.

Dearest  Pastor Jon,
You will forever be in our hearts. Our family will always remember how you welcomed us in Hamilton. Your love, humility, and deeds were christlike , you " walked the talk." We are so sad to lose you, but it's heaven 's gain. Rest on beloved in the bossom of your creator whom you served.

Pastor Jon was a huge inspiration to our ministry Love on Hamilton as we first served with him on Wednesday nights at the old bus terminal in downtown Hamilton.  He had such an incredible heart, His generosity was contagious and I can't imagine how many lives he has helped with his time on this earth.  He left an incredible legacy and example for all of us! -  I can't imagine the grand entrance he is getting in Heaven right now!  What a life well lived!  Till we meet again!

My heart bleeds each time I see Pastor Jon’s picture or drive across Parkview Church. But the consolation remains that he has gone to rest where there isn’t no sickness or pains. He fought a good fight and left a good legacy that will remain indelible in the sand of time. Rest on Papa !.  .

I met Pastor Jon in the fall of 2022. With his generous help my wife Michelle and I were able to furnish the Second Chances home in Brantford which is dedicated to help men with addiction issues. Jon and Parkview Church have also assisted us many times to supply families and individuals with furniture, clothes and food. 

Jon was and is (he is still alive in heaven) the most loving, kind and generous person I have ever met in Hamilton. He was and is an inspiration to my wife and I who are actively involved in helping the homeless and needy families in Hamilton. 

Our prayers are with his wife, children, grandchildren, friends and church family. Together we will continue to help others in Hamilton in the compassion of Jesus Christ. The compassion ministry of Pastor Jon and Parkview Church will carry on as God raises up many others to carry the Lord’s work in Hamilton.

I am so saddened today to hear of Pastor Jon's passing. I dropped by West 5th today to deliver a donation item for a young family...an item that he had told me back in June they really needed. When I arrived, I was told of his passing. My heartfelt sympathy is going out to Pastor Jon's family and all those close to him. He was a lovely man who had dedicated so much time and effort to helping others. May the fond memories of your times together with him help you through this difficult time. We are so deeply saddened to read the news of Jon’s passing. We have known Jon for close to 12 years now through donating to the church. The dedication and commitment that this wonderful man had for his community and beyond is something that I have never witnessed before. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have known such a special human. I will miss our little text  conversations. When I think of Jon I see the man who never stopped working to help those in need. It always brought a smile to my face when I saw Jon’s  van in the parking lot as I knew I would be able to say Hi and to talk to him in person!

Indeed it is extremely sad that Rev. Jon Huxtable is no more. It was unbelievably sudden. This man loved God and man and was always ready to listen and address issues that came to his attention without regard to color, gender, religion or race of the person affected. 

He personally, helped me in so many ways ranging from prayers, material, food items and words of encouragement. Parkview church became my refuge for many months. If there is one thing  I learned from our departed friend, then it is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. 
Fare thee well my friend and Brother in Christ till we meet again.

I am saddened to hear the news that Pastor has died. He was truly a man of God and taught all of us the meaning of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Thank you Pastor for the compassion and caring you taught many of us towards those less fortunate. The importance of learning people's names and using them, listening to them as they share a story with you, showing sincere compassion towards each individual. caring for them the best we could.

We are saddened to hear of Pastor Jon’s passing, but heartened to read the memories that are posted here. Our sincere sympathies to Charlene, the family and the Church family.
I remember Pastor Jon and Charlene from our seminary days in Regina. Jon was a true scholar and applied himself to the study of God’s Word. But he was a scholar with work boots on, serving his people and the people of Hamilton with a real servant’s heart. What an accomplishment to serve the same church and community for 30 years! Some people come and go, others come and stay. Hamilton is a better place because Pastor Jon came to stay - and serve. Well done, good and faithful servant!

We will never forget Pastor John. He had such a way with people and making them feel seen and special. He never took time off was always serving always giving always made sure people had food to take home and food in their belly. He cared so much for people he truly inspired me. He's a rare flower you only meet maybe a couple times in your life if you're lucky. Condolences to his family may Jesus bring you peace during this difficult time❤️

I condole with the family of Pastor Jon. I’m an international student of Mohawk College that just arrived Canada last year February with my husband and 4 kids. Not knowing how to go about with settling in, my church pastor gave us pastor Jon’s contact, saying he could help out with some stuffs. We called pastor Jon and he gave us an appointment to go and see him which we did. I write this with tears running down my cheeks because the mattress in my room, the furniture in my living room with some clothes and food stuffs came from pastor Jon.
I wish it is possible for kind people like him to live forever but God knows best.
May pastor Jon’s beautiful soul continue to rest in peace even as God grants his lovely family the fortitude to bear this great loss.

You will be missed Pastor Jon.I met you at the Old Bus Terminal on Rebecca.I met you 7 years ago with a friend of mine and yours. My friend also helped you out at the old bus terminal on Rebecca.My friend and myself looked after the clothing.She also helped you out before I met you.

Pastor Jon was a factor in my early recovery from Illness.  We worked together a short time on the outreach. I learned with Pastor Jon to get out of my own head and be useful. Especially to others in need.
I continued to know Jon over the years as we would help each other.
Only two weeks ago Pastor helped me out by loaning church tables for my garage sale.
Praise to the Almighty and Loving Lord and God that Jon may forever keep in the presence.

Pastor John was an incredible man. His passing will be felt throughout the community he served.

I've only meet paster Jon a few time. This  is a sad day..

Pastor Jon was a very special person who truly believed in helping others in as many ways as he could. He worked tirelessly every day to do God's work.He will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him including the many people he dedicated his life to helping.Resting now in the arms of God. Love and sympathy to Charlene and family.

Pastor Jon as we all knew him was an amazing man.  I brought furniture to Parkview church for many years and Jon was always there to assist and thank us for the load.  He had a heart of gold and was always busy looking after the needy.  The first time I met him some 15 years ago  he told us that they had furnished 1000 homes with furniture.   My heart is heavy with his passing but we know that he is waiting for us with Jesus.

Pastor Jon was an amazing man who helped me with my outreach/ministry and I can’t thank him enough for providing me with food to help out the people in Mississauga. This doesn’t feel real to me and I’m still in shock. You did your job here on Earth Pastor. The Lord has called you home.

I grew up knowing pastor Jon as the pastor of park view. He was one of the best people I’ve ever known. His heart was so pure and genuine, he was the kindest, most caring, and amazing person. He was an inspirational pastor, he also always made sure to say hi to everyone after each service, this showed how much of a great man he was because he wanted to have a connection with everyone and help them all personally. I remember when while he was preaching he would randomly call out to me or one of the other kids in the crowd and say funny things to keep me and the other kids entertained. I miss when he would call me up to light one of the candles during the Christmas season it made me feel so special to have a pastor that cared so much about me. Pastor Jon will forever be an amazing pastor, he is one of the main reasons why I began my relationship with god. I’m gonna miss him forever, love you pastor Jon ❤️🙏

Jon was one of the amazing people I've ever met. He had such a depth to his love and compassion.  He met people in the darkest moments of their lives and brought light. He  made people feel seen and known and loved. I used to joke that if there was one person on Earth that represented God's love the best it was Jon and it still reigns true today. I met Jon about 8 years ago and I can honestly say that my life will never be the same.  I will serve as he served and love as he loved, because he did it well and he did it faithfully. I will miss him forever and I will always treasure the memories serving with him in Hamilton and laughing our heads off at all the chaos in our own lives and all around us. Jon you were one of Hamilton's greatest treasures and the whole city will feel the impact of losing you. You are with Jesus and gone from us here on Earth, but your legacy lives in our hearts and in our city forever. Love you always.

This news deeply saddens my heart! My sincere condolences to Pastor Jon's family and all of those in the community that he continuously showed up for in the most genuine way, providing basic needs and a warm and caring heart.
