February 26, 1932 - January 24, 2016
On Sunday morning, January 24th, the Patriarch of the Rocchi family passed
away suddenly but peacefully at home, with his loving wife and best friend
Marilyn Greenly Rocchi by his side. Joseph was predeceased by his first wife
Patricia (Middleton) Rocchi and is survived by their five children: Paul Rocchi;
Ann Rocchi and David Cox (Miranda, Natalie, Claire); Sarah Rocchi and Sam
Haffey (Fiona, Weston); Daniel Rocchi and Neesa Kenemy (Siena, Caelum)
and James and Arianne Rocchi. Joe is also survived by Marilyn's children:
Brian Greenly and Diane Durocher (Richard,Erin); Michael Greenly (Craig);
Blair Greenly and Janet Konyer (Ben, Allison, Eve). Joe was predeceased by
his sister Ada, and brothers Tom, Angelo, Carl, Francis, and John, but is
survived by dozens of loving nieces and nephews. Joe attended McMaster
University and Osgoode Hall, then began his law career with his brother
Francis. He was also a CFL football official for 10 years. In his off-hours, Joe,
the Hosta King of Binbrook, was a knowledgeable and avid gardener who
willingly shared his bounty with his friends and neighbours. Joe was a
stalwart member and Past President of the Glendale Golf and Country Club,
and enjoyed the golf links and curling rinks for 45 seasons. He volunteered
for many charity organizations over the years (St. Joseph's Hospital,
Participation House, Knights of Columbus) in his roles of fundraiser, driver,
and Chef on Call for numerous parish dinners throughout Hamilton. Joe's
family offers sincere thanks for the care, compassion and friendships shown
by Dr. Jane Dobson, the gentle angels at the Hamilton General Hospital
Heart Function Clinic, C.C.A.C, St. Elizabeth Health Care and Bayshore Health
Care. Visitation will be at Cresmount Funeral Home, 1020 Upper James
Street, Hamilton on Thursday, January 28 from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, January
29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January
30 at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 63 Hwy 20, Stoney
Creek. A reception will follow at Trillium Clubhouse, St. Elizabeth Village, 1
Yates Gate, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate
