Born in the Ukraine in 1920, Joseph was the son of the late George Sidoruk and late Domenique. Predeceased by his loving wife Frances and predeceased by his sister Annie. Joseph is survived by his children Greg Sidoruk (Jagminder) and Cheryl Gilbert-Acri (late Jim).
Cherished grandfather and Daddy Joe of Chris Eecklor (Lynn), Carrie Pinard (Lawrence), Candace Sidoruk, Lindsay Gilbert Smith (Mike), Ryan Sidoruk. Lovingly remembered by his great grandchildren Kyle, Colton, Chanelle, Blake, Dylan and Isabella.
Joseph spent the last 10 years being lovingly cared for by his family Joshua, Albert and Debra Czerniga. He will be greatly missed by his great nephew Devon (Alex) and especially missed by his great nephew and niece Ben and Abby. While living with them he met many new friends and will be missed by all.
The family would like to extend an extra special thank you to Monica for her compassionate loving care of Uncle Joe for 9 years. To Heather and Diane we are so grateful for the excellent care, kindness, and empathy you shared. He respected and appreciated all of you so dearly. Thank you for making his days comfortable.
Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1937 and moved to Kapuskasing where he went to school and played the great game of hockey until coming to Hamilton in 1941. He was a dedicated husband and father who spent his working life at Firestone Tire where in 1955 he was recognized for a Splicing Operation recommendation on the white sidewall. He devoted his time caring for his fruit and bee farm in Winona after retiring. He loved spending his days tending to the farm, he took so much pride on how the fruit should be picked so as not to damage a branch. He was known to many as a collector. On the farm he had many collections from nuts and bolts to tractors, to cars and everything in between. He would always say “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” Joseph loved to make everyone laugh, he always had a joke to share and meaningful advice to give. He was an honest and admirable man; he will be lovingly missed by all who knew him.
