Josip Bermarija

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Josip on April 30, 2016 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Marica for 58 years. Most loved father of Sally Mikulin (Steve) and Darlene Filipovic (Steve). Loving deda of Adrianna (Vinnie), Angela (Lou), Nikki (Joe), Amanda (Justin), Steven and Katarina. Josip was blessed to be “stari deda” to three great grandchildren, Jaxon, Mia and Marco. Predeceased by his parents Ana and Franjo, his sister Mara, his cousins John and Mary Bermarija. He will be sadly missed by his brother Franjo (Flora), his sister-in-law Ana Miksera (Josip), nieces and nephews in Croatia, his best friends and inlaws, Barka and Branko Mikulin and the Vrbanic and Filipovic families. He leaves behind many kumovi and friends who will remember his kind words and gentle nature. Josip was a retired employee of Dofasco with 28 years of dedicated service. Our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the attentive and selfless care that was shown to our husband and father. Visitation at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-9pm with Vigil Prayers at 7:15pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 9:30am. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Cross Church would be appreciated.
