It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe, in his 75th year, on Thursday September 3, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Beloved husband of Ruzica (Rose) for 49 years, cherished father of Andrea and Goran and wife Janet and proud grandfather of Alexandra, Matthew, Joseph, Marco and Viktor who brought him so much joy. Joe was a dear friend and neighbour to so many and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Joe was born in Zagreb, Croatia and came to Canada in 1968 with his family. He launched a successful business, which he oversaw until recently. He was happiest, though, when spending time with his family and entertaining friends. Joe’s legacy of laughter and zest for life will live on through all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (near Kenilworth) on Monday, September 7 from 2-4 and 7-9pm with Vigil prayers at 7:15. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton on Tuesday September 8, at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, 681 Mud Street, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
