September 8, 1941 – August 29, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Juro “George” Laić on August 29, 2026, in his 84th year.
George was born in Jurovo, Croatia, to the late Jure and Sofija Laić.
George is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Danica Laić, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, family, and cherished memories. He was a beloved daddy to Darlene Laić and Lillian Mirić, and a cherished father in law to Edvard Mirić. He will also be dearly missed by his sister Ankica Vlašić and her husband Josip in Canada and his siblings in Croatia: Nikola Laić (Dragica), Katica Rehorić, and Mira Arnuga, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
George was a proud and dedicated butcher, working for 38 years at Maple Leaf Foods in Burlington. He genuinely enjoyed going to work and he took great pride in his job and in providing for his family. His strong work ethic was a reflection of the love and dedication he had for those closest to him.
George will be remembered for his happy-go-lucky nature, positive attitude, sense of humour, love of laughter, and appreciation for the simple joys in life. He had a strong and unwavering faith in God, which carried and guided him throughout his life.
His kindness, warmth, laughter, and wonderful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable emptiness, the memories he created and the love he gave will be treasured always.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the wonderful staff at Juravinski Hospital for their compassionate care, kindness, and dedication during George’s final days.
Počivaj u miru Božjem.
Zauvijek ćeš živjeti u našim srcima.
