Today we celebrate the life of an amazing mother, sister, grandmother for all that she has given to us and to so many others with great love.
She leaves behind her children Corrie (Chris), Katie and Scott (Danielle); their father Bob Walker, and her granddaughter Makenna. Predeceased by her parents James and Bernice McKechnie, brother Jim McKechnie and sister Cathy Rielly. She leaves behind her sisters Terry Hamelin (Mark), Maureen Ellis (Lorne), brothers Ian McKechnie, Alex McKechnie and many nieces and nephews.
Karen embraced life bringing laughter and joy to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Her compassion, love and care is the legacy she leaves.
We are grateful to the staff of Juravinski Hospital, especially Diane for their care and to Father Joe Durkacz for his blessing. We are forever indebted to Don Davidson, Dawn Martin, Mieke Ewan and their staff of Margaret’s Place Hospice where she passed peacefully, with dignity, surrounded by family and friends, especially Greg.
Yes, we are saddened, but are comforted knowing that Karen lived a life worth celebrating.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E. Hamilton.
