Peacefully, on August 3rd, with her devoted husband by her side, in her 77th year, Katerina passed away after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved wife of Stefan Prytula for 56 years, Katerina will be sadly missed by many close family members. Treasured sister to Mykola Shwec (Ann). Dear sister-in-law to Mykola and Halina Prytula. Cherished Aunt to Mary Kolkin, Alice and George Huckalo, Natalie, Lisa and Clarissa Prytula, Andrew Shwec (Sandy), Roman and Oksana Pohorilyj and Elizabeth Shwec.
Adored by her nieces: Kathy Spence (Rich), Lydia Otto (Peter), Valerie Carrey (Matthew), Natalie Huckalo, Kristine and nephew Robert Pohorilyj.
Predeceased by her parents Mykola and Lukaria Shwec, and her sister Maria Shwec.
Katerina was a trusted employee at Westinghouse/ Siemens for 28 years. She had a flare for fashion, and was a talented designer and seamstress. Katerina was a charismatic, poised and a charming soul with a kind and generous heart. She had a zest for life, love for travel and a magnetic personality.
She leaves behind many friends and extended family that will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. A. Hornich, Dr. A. Benger and the caring staff at Juravinski Cancer Center. Many heartfelt thanks to our dear friend Jackie Klun for all of her support and guidance.
Special thanks to the compassionate Palliative Care Team at McNally House in Grimsby.
Visitation will be held at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), on Tuesday, August 4th from 6-9 pm and on Wednesday August 5th from 2-4 pm and 6-9pm. Panachyda at 7:30pm on Wednesday.
Funeral service will be held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 855 Barton Street East. on Thursday August 6th at 10am Interment at St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville. Donations may be made in Katerina’s memory to St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral or Ukrainian Social Service Hamilton.
