Kristina (Christine) Dolak

Kristina is predeceased by her late husband, Jaromir “Jerry” Dolak (2015) and her son George (2024), her parents IIyana "Helen" (Francuch) Rozman and Michel “Mike” Rozman. Kristina is survived by her loving daughter, Irene Lovell; her daughter-in-law, Henriette Dolak; her grandchildren, Alena Saunders (Tim Rogers), Mirelle Dolak, Nathan Lovell, Monique Dolak (Joseph Napoleone), and Shaun Lovell; her great-grandchildren, Knox & Levi Rogers, and Eleanor Dolak-Napoleone. She is forever remembered by extended relatives and friends in Canada and the Czech Republic.

Born in the former Czechoslovakia, Kristina and Jaromir made the courageous journey to Canada in 1951, embracing their new country and all that it had to offer while always holding close to their traditions, culture, and heritage. She understood the value of hard work and the importance of building a secure, meaningful future for her family.

A woman of strong faith, determination, and an extraordinary work ethic, Kristina was a true modern businesswoman long before it was common for women to build and operate businesses of their own. After studying electrolysis and cosmetology at The Cleveland Academy of Cosmetic Therapy, she established and successfully operated her own electrolysis salon “Christine Dolak Electrolysis” for over 50 years. She was very dedicated to her clientele and profession. She was generous with her time ensuring her clients were always well taken care of. She took pride in looking her best and, even more so, in helping others feel beautiful and confident.

Kristina was a wonderful cook and took great pleasure in feeding the people she loved. Whether gathering everyone around her own table or arriving at someone else's home with a care package filled with homemade food, she expressed her love through her hospitality and her generous spirit. Her generosity extended across oceans as well, as she remained deeply connected to and supportive of family overseas, never forgetting where she came from or those she loved there.

Kristina loved the sunshine and the warmth of summer. Her backyard swimming pool became a favourite gathering place where she spent happy summer days swimming and laughing with her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Kristina enjoyed her garden, growing hydrangeas and delighted in watching her grandchildren pick raspberries. Those joyful days remain deeply treasured family memories.

Travel was another great joy Kristina shared with her family, from short weekend trips with her grandchildren to exploring across Europe and North and South America. Perhaps most meaningful of all, Babi made a point of bringing each of her children and grandchildren back to her homeland. Sharing her birthplace became a beautiful way to connect the generations, giving her family a deeper understanding of their heritage and a lasting connection to their roots.

At 96, Kristina leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly, but who will carry her lessons and values forward. Her memory will remain present in the recipes she shared, the gardens she loved, and the Czech traditions she kept alive. Through the stories told and the practical wisdom she passed down, she will continue to be a guiding presence for her family for years to come.

Kristina spent the last 8 and a half years at Extendicare where she received good care and support. The family wishes to thank all the staff, PSW’s, kitchen staff, recreation, nurses and Dr. Ahrens for making her stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home – Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass from the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King Church, 714 King Street West, Hamilton on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
