Predeceased by our wonderful parents, Liz and Lorne, Lea leaves behind her siblings, with aching hearts: Lorie; Dale (Michael); and Dane (Sabrina). She will be deeply missed by her adoring nieces and nephews, of whom she was so very proud: Shane, Natasha (Tori), Avana (Toria), Sarena (Devan), Nathan (Brittany), Dillon, and Braden; by her cherished role as great aunt to Wilder and Salem; as well as by her many loving cousins and caring friends, including Mario and Tammy, and the family dog who adored her, Kiko.
Lea was a very special person, truly our Angel on Earth. Throughout her life, she taught us so much about unconditional love, forgiveness, spreading happiness, and her deep love of God. If you were fortunate enough to meet Lea, you could not help but fall in love with her.
Born with Down Syndrome, Lea surpassed all expectations. Medical professionals once believed she would live only a short life, yet she lived a full, happy, and meaningful life for nearly 62 years. Educators thought she would never learn to read or write, but our Lea proved them wrong time and again.
Lea was witty, intelligent, and warmhearted, with the absolute best memory of anyone we knew. She was a social butterfly, never unkind, always trusting, and endlessly loving. She delighted in dancing and singing, and her laughter and sense of humour, including her brilliant one-liners, brought joy wherever she went.
Lea travelled the world with her parents and family, volunteered proudly at St. Charles School and Rygiel, and cherished her time at “Coffee Club” with her mom and friends. She loved her life, her family, and her many friends. With her warm heart and beautiful, contagious smile, Lea drew people to her everywhere she went, and she will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place. Lea’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24th at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 50 Brucedale Ave East, Hamilton.
