Lorraine was born and raised in Hamilton to Frank and Marion Toth. Lorraine spent her life raising her four children Grace (Matt), Peter, Angela and Julie, and was a loving Meema to Olivia and Millie. She cherished nature and was well-known for her quick and clever sense of humour.
Lorraine dedicated her life to teaching and was infamous for her gentle and understanding approach to all students. Every Earth Day, she would plant a tree with her class and to this day, each tree is still growing strong.
Lorraine will be remembered as a dedicated hobby farmer where she raised horses, cows, pigs, chickens, just to name a few, and embraced the adventures of farming by writing weekly newspaper articles, and even a book, titled "Visions from Dusty Rose Farm". Lorraine was also known for her passion of raising and releasing dozens of monarch butterflies each year.
She will be dearly missed by friends, colleagues, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Michigan.
She is survived by her brother Pat (Marian), sister Marian (Jim), sister-in-law Barb, and predeceased by her brother Peter.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 5-8 p.m., with speeches and an open mic at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to TEAD - Therapeutic Riding Centre (www.tead.on.ca) where Lorraine had volunteered for many years. Online condolences can be made at www.markeydermody.com.
