She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Larry (2013). Lucille will be deeply missed by her daughter Marisa (Jerry), sister Lori (Jim), sisters-in-law Neli (Fab) and Patti (Bob), step-grandchildren Jennalee (Marc) and Kyle (Lorna), and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lucille will also be fondly remembered by her plethora of friends: her dear friend and travel buddy Pinky, Gym Friends, Sts. Peter and Paul and Holy Family Groups, to mention only a few. Lucille was also blessed to have caring neighbours who were always there to lend a hand.
Lucille was a born educator, teaching Kindergarten and Grade 1 at the HWCDSB for over 30 years. We couldn’t go anywhere without someone stopping us and sharing happy memories of Mrs. Di Censo. Lucille was actively involved at Blessed Sacrament Parish, serving as a long-time member and President of the Catholic Women’s League, Parish Council and Resurrection Choir. Lucille was a member of the Venetian Club, RWTO and RTO.
Lucille embodied joie de vivre. It was hard to keep up with her social calendar! Regular events included coffee, lunch, dinner, theatre, Ticat games, hosting dinners and more. She made “new best friends” wherever she went. Lucille was an avid traveller, globe trotting with her husband Larry, with Pinky and with many other friends. Shopping was also a favourite pastime, especially the Eaton’s Surprise Sales of yore.
The final leg of Lucille’s journey was challenging. She was supported with care and respect at the Juravinski Hospital. We are grateful to Dr. Jimenez and the Oncology team, the dedicated C3 staff, OT Cindy McDonald, NP Andrea Miller, Dr. Z. and the M2 team, and so many others for their unwavering commitment to Lucille’s well-being.
Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E, on Sunday, March 23rd from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 East 37th St., on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the War Amps, Good Shepherd Hamilton, Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton Animal Services or the charity of your choice.
Lucille, heaven will be a little brighter with your arrival!
