

He was born on July 5, 1938 in Saint-Fabien-de-Panet, Quebec where he grew up before moving to Cambridge, Ontario in 1953 and then moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 1965 and then back to Cambridge in 2023. Marcel was a graduate of the Canadian Institute of Management – Professional Manager Program and was the Manager, Quality Assurance, Codes and Standards at BIW-Boston Insulated Wire & Cable where he worked for more than 30 years and then for 5 years as a consultant post-retirement. He sat on the Boards of 12 Technical Standards.
He loved his family and many friends. He enjoyed travelling, entertaining, playing cards, games, cooking and even did some painting art. Marcel and Brian enjoyed hosting friends and family at their many parties and dinners. They also hosted an annual family pool party for almost 40 years. He is now reunited with his predeceased beloved partner of 45 years, Brian Ramsay, parents: Rosaire & Prezilda, brothers: Yvon (Louise), Real (late Mary), Jean-Guy aka Johnny (late Shirley), Andre (Linda), Daniel (Nancy), sisters: Huguette Corriveau (late Benoit) and Muguette who passed as an infant in 1937. Also predeceased by brother in-laws George Lessard, John Dominas, Benoit Corriveau, Louis Jolin and sister in-laws Mary, Shirley, Sharon, several nephews and nieces and mother in-law Agnes Ramsay and father in-law James Ramsay Sr.
Marcel will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters Gisele Lessard, Claude, Regent (Sandy), Jocelyne Dominas, Denise (Roger) Dion, Carol (Ken) Stemmler, Richard and sister in-laws Louise, Linda, Nancy and Maureen Dove and brother in-law James Ramsay Jr. and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and EMS workers at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, the staff at the Chartwell Queen’s Square Retirement Home where he lived for the past 3 years and the staff of the Home Care Support teams for their compassionate care.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Regina Mundi Catholic Church, 631 Mohawk Road West Hamilton, Ontario on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11am. Interment to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery, 260 Rymal Road E. Hamilton, Ontario.
