Margaret passed away peacefully on November 22 in her 87th year, after a full and blessed life. She will be terribly missed by Jim, her devoted husband of 64 years. His enduring love and care allowed her to remain at home, surrounded by her family, as she would have wished. Her loss will be forever felt by her loving daughters, Margaret and Allison, son-in-law Greg, grandchildren James, Kyle, Katy, and Taylor. Margaret will also be deeply mourned by family and friends in Scotland, England, California and Toronto. She was a dedicated Christian, an active member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Being such a caring person, she touched many people’s lives and received much in return. Most recently, the family is especially grateful for the care and appreciation that evolved in relationships with her caregiver Michelle, Dr. Papaioannou, and Donna Goodwill at St. Peter’s.
Margaret was a woman of enormous charm and warmth. Born Margaret Hendrie, in Airdrie, Scotland, she was she youngest of a large loving family. They were known for their singing, music, and high spirits. Margaret and Jim loved to travel. There were Caribbean cruises and trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and Paris. The cruises provided them with their favourite pastime, ballroom dancing, which they pursued into their eighties. Margaret’s legacy includes passing on her love of life, people, singing, dancing, and laughter.
The family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME 322 Fennell Avenue East on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, November 27th at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
