At the age of 92, Marie was welcomed to her Heavenly home, where she was reunited with her beloved husband and best friend, the late Hans Meiritz, who passed away on the very same date, thirteen years earlier. Perhaps, all those years, there had been one chair left open at Heaven’s table, with Hans already seated there, waiting for his beloved Marie to join him once more. This beautiful connection in their dates of passing, and the comforting thought of their long-awaited reunion, is a special blessing for their family to hold close to their hearts.
Marie was the proud and much-loved mother of Debbie Meiritz and Elke Meiritz, and a devoted Oma to Matthew McKay (Shari), Nick McKay, Kyle Clarke, and Isabella Meiritz-Harrison. She was also a cherished Uhr Oma to Jesse, Nick, Arianna, Cassia, Mia, and Silas. Marie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her extended family and many dear friends.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Marie lived with a kindness and compassion that touched those around her. Her strong belief in the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life, bringing her comfort, strength, and peace. With her beautiful, sparkling blue eyes, she had a special way of seeing the goodness in others and sharing her love with those fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
Visitation will take place at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service celebrating Marie’s life and faith will be held at Mission Baptist Church, 100 North Oval, Hamilton, on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the staff at Aberdeen Gardens for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided.
For those who wish, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Mission Baptist Church would be sincerely appreciated.
