Mary leaves behind her beloved sons Walter and Mike (Mariana), and her beautiful granddaughter Emily (Jeff). She will be missed by extended family and friends throughout Canada and Croatia. Mom was grateful to have her closest family and friends with her on her last day. She loved you all so very much.
Mom was born in the beautiful, small village of Zamrsje, Croatia. She emigrated to Canada with her young family in 1968 and enjoyed life in her new country. Sadly, she lost her beloved husband, Ivan, at a young age and was left to care for her sons on her own. She worked hard to give them a good life; to let them know how loved they were and to provide them unconditional support throughout their lives.
Mom was a devoted Catholic and spent many years singing in the church choir at Holy Cross parish. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League. She sang with her beloved Pajdasi folklore group for many years and continued to enjoy various get-togethers with them until recently. She adored her friends and family and was especially kind and generous. She loved to have a good time; she loved a good party and she loved to sing her heart out.
Mom cherished her circle of girlfriends. We are eternally grateful for the love and support you've all shown her over the years and for the joy and laughter you brought to her life. Many times, she let us know that she didn't know where she'd be without you - thank you. You were all very special to her.
A special thank you to the Ribar, Vusir, Cvetkovic and Ivinac families for your kindness, love and unwavering support and friendship over the years. You meant everything to her.
To our dear mama, baka, tetka and friend, we love you so much! You remain in our hearts forever and always.
Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Monday, September 21 from 4-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton, on Tuesday, September 22 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Cross Parish Church would be appreciated.
