

Marilyn was born in Hamilton. She was predeceased by her father Robert Howard Hill (1944), her step-father Macklin Barry (1971), her mother Lillian (nee Bulford) (1998) and her sister Lorraine (2011).
Marilyn taught at elementary schools in Hamilton and Toronto for 35 years. She retired in 1996 and returned to live in the house built for her family in 1940 by her grandfather, Sackville Hill.
In this city, Marilyn enjoyed participating in a number of groups, including the Canadian Federation of University Women, the Women's Canadian Club, the Rosedale Seniors Centre, Rosedale Lawn Bowling Club, and the Seniors' Active Living Centre as part of the YWCA. She was an active theatre goer and bridge player.
Left to mourn are second cousin Dennis Hill, nephew Brian Wilson, his wife Jennie and two great nephews Tyler and Russell, as well as long-time friend Jean Griffiths. Two other cousins are Pat Lillycropp and Lynda Pratt. On the Bulford side, is the late David (2023) and Anne Bulford, Jane and Jim Hislop, Bev Langley and Harry and Lynda Lounds.
The family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals at the Hamilton General Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Joseph's Villa (Primrose Lane) over the past 3 years for their dedication, care, compassion and love for Marilyn.
Family and friends will be received at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations to a charity of your choice that is committed towards children or animals would be appreciated by the family.
