It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jane “Janie” Konnakari Lazare on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. At 85 years of age, Janie entered the spirit world, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and faith.
Janie’s love defied visible and invisible boundaries, radiating a warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a gentle, loving soul who carried the weight of life’s hardships with quiet strength. Despite the trials she endured, Janie’s unwavering faith and compassion were the hallmarks of her life. In her final moments, she spoke of the beauty of forgiveness, leaving this world with her beautiful, loving heart leading the way—just as it always had.
A devoted member of Blessings Church, Janie dedicated her life to living with a good heart and mind in the name of God. She was a cherished participant in the Women to Women Bible Study Group and found strength and solace in her faith community.
Janie is lovingly remembered by her children: her son Thomas Tehoháhake Wilson and his children, Madeline (Ryan) and Thompson; her daughter Francis and granddaughter Julia. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: Hawk, Levon, Sam, and Teddy Thomas. Janie’s memory lives on in her beloved sister, Mildred Lazare, and her extended family back home in Kahnawake, including her many wonderful cousins.
Her passing is a profound loss to all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as her love always has.
