

Passed away on October 25, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton, to join her loving husband Bob Spilchuk; who predeceased her on January 14, 2015. Loving mother of their precious daughter, Dr. June Martin, and son in law Alan Pong. Predeceased by parents, Nick and Mary Ozimok, her baby sister Irene Ozimok in the Ukraine, her brothers John Ozimok and his wife Anna, Nick Ozimok and his wife Ann, and her sister Marge Scherb and her husband Jim. Mourning their loss are her sister Elizabeth Osadec (Don) of St. Catharines. Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews, Dr. Dan Ozimok (Wendy); Dr. Darlene Ozimok-Edge (Scott); Dr. Donna Ozimok; Barb Juranic (John and Jennifer) Catharine Osadec (Noah and Joshua) (Ottawa) Goddaughter Maria-Lynn (Andy Komar), the late Patricia Varaljai (Vince and Olivia), nephew Nick Ozimok Jr., Dianne Ozimok (Australia) and many more nieces and nephews.
Mary’s nursing career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton and the direction of Dr. James Murray (deceased) and her compassionate understanding of Women’s personal problems encouraged Mary to become the proud owner of Professional Skin Care Ltd. (Electrolysis and Esthetics Professional) as a certified Electrologist and Esthetician until she retired.
Mary was a devoted member of St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. She held many positions and was active in the UCWLC at St Nicholas Church as Vice-President, Treasurer and Social Convener. She was a member of St Nicholas Seniors’ Club, Ukrainian Canadian Seniors’ Club (UNO), Ukrainian Women’s Organization of Canada and St. Eugene’s Seniors Club. Mary enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, cooking, baking, making the very best studenetz, sharing her recipes with all who asked for them and entertaining family and friends. Mary also shared the love and heartfelt joys with her precious daughter June, who taught her mother the true meaning of God’s Blessings with thanks for each other.
Sincere heartfelt thanks to Father Andrii Lopatniuk and his wife Dana for the compassionate and understanding care Mary needed in the loneliness she felt in the loss of her loving husband Bob, who always held her hand whenever they walked together; now they walk together in Heaven. Also Father Zenoviy Bahriy and his wife Oxana for their loving prayers and friendship. Most grateful thanks to her sister Liz Osadec and Don of St. Catharines for their help and care. Good neighbors and friends John and Gwen Bois, Stan Bliszczuk and Michelle, Christine Nebesny, Marylou Haw and Kate O’Bryan for many caring and helpful ways they showed their love for Mary.
Visitation at Markey –Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East at Kenilworth Avenue, Hamilton on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Panachyda at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 260 Melvin Avenue, Hamilton on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, #8 Highway, Stoney Creek to follow. Flowers greatly appreciated, for anyone who knew Mary knew her love of beautiful flowers and gardens.
