She will be greatly missed by her daughters Stephanie, Danielle (Gregg) and Patricia; her sisters Alison (Ross) and Caroline (Brian); many nieces and nephews, and her beloved pug Teddy.
Maureen began her career in the sales department at Dofasco, before leaving to become a homemaker and full time mom. She later became a diligent and caring PSW who created special bonds with her clients. She selflessly volunteered for many different charities throughout her lifetime. In her retirement she enjoyed living in and exploring Toronto with her youngest daughter, attending the theatre, and cooking for family.
Maureen was an avid lover of reading, true crime, musical theatre and the Toronto Blue Jays. A profoundly intelligent woman, she fostered a lifetime love of reading and learning in her daughters. She was a fantastic cook and baker, and holidays will never be the same without her. Maureen always had compassion for those less fortunate, whether humans or animals, and she was fiercely independent and self-sufficient until the end.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bin, the staff at Michael Garron and Sunnybrook Hospitals, and all of the nurses and PSWs that helped care for Maureen in her final months. In keeping with her wishes, a private funeral service will be held for close friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton. As a reflection of Maureen’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA or your animal welfare charity of choice.
We'll never stop missing you Mom - until we meet again.
