It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of May Adeline Groves (née Patrick, Earle) on October 16, 2026, at Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, following a remarkable 101 years of life. May was the loving mother of Robert Earle, Linda Hicken, Sandra McDonald, and the late Deborah Naylor (2025). She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Groves (2009).
She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Lisa, Jason, Nicole (Malcolm), Michael (Mindy), Matthew (Stacey), Michelle (Andrew), Jessica (Chris), and Steve (Sarah); 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A beloved matriarch, May was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, and lived all over Canada. At the age of 50, she graduated from Mohawk College and went on to build a career as an Early Childhood Educator. Following her retirement, she pursued her love of travel and enjoyed exploring many beautiful places alongside her beloved husband, Ron.
May was also a devoted member of Mount Hamilton Baptist Church for over 52 years and spent many years travelling with Stonecroft Ministries, sharing her personal testimony and the story of a life shaped by faith, perseverance, and love. At the age of 95, May finally completed and published her autobiography, Under the Dome – To God Be the Glory, sharing her remarkable and heartfelt story of a lifetime of resilience, compassion, wisdom, and strength, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May’s incredible life, enduring faith, and deep love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will take place at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave E. on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11am with Interment to follow at Mt. Hamilton Cemetery, 260 Rymal Rd E. Reception will follow at Mount Hamilton Baptist Church, 626 Upper Wentworth St. In loving memory of May Groves, donations may be made to Mount Hamilton Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
