Michael Gary McConnell

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Gary McConnell, at Hamilton General Hospital, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of 73. Mike was the beloved son of the late Kenneth and Glenna McConnell and a much loved brother of William “Bill” McConnell . He was a cherished uncle to Brenden and Shannon.

At the age of 16, Mike suffered a brain injury that forever changed the course of his life. Through the years, with the unwavering love of his family and the kindness and support of those around him, Mike continued to find joy in the simple things. He was known for his smile, his gentle spirit, and the love he shared in his own special way. Mike was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and enjoyed cheering for his beloved team. Though he was not able to express himself with words, Mike had a remarkable way of showing his love and letting others know that he cared. He knew he was loved, and that love surrounded him throughout his life.

Mike will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He held a special place in the hearts of the staff and caregivers at Victoria Gardens, who cared for him with compassion, kindness, and affection. Mike’s smile, gentle nature, and enduring spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to Cresmount Funeral Home on Saturday, October 10, 2026 to gather and pay their final respects to Michael from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a Graveside Burial Service at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m. Should you arrive at the cemetery before the funeral vehicles, please remember to leave enough space for those vehicles to park along the roadside closest to the grave.
