Michael James McNamara

Mike leaves behind his wife Angela McNamara (nee Myers); his children Lisa Davidson (Steve), Michael McNamara, Michelle Madley, Kelly McNamara (Wade Taylor) and Darryl McNamara (Julie Montanara). He is also survived by his sisters Patricia Wilcox of Niles, MI, Ann Robins of Caledonia, ON, and brother Daniel McNamara (Elizabeth) of Carthage, NC. Mike will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Chelsea, Adrianna, Mya, Matthew, Melissa, Jenna, Jacob and Toni. He was also the loving Great Grandfather to Aaliyah, Carter and Easton. Mike is predeceased by his father Terence James McNamara and his mother Lily Elsie McNamara (nee Buckingham), his brothers-in-laws Clayton Robins and John Wilcox. He will be forever remembered with love by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mike was a true character, a little prankster who was always ready with a joke. He was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. If there was a game on, chances are Mike was watching it. He simply loved sports. After retiring, Mike became an invaluable part of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 58. From serving as bar manager to volunteering in countless programs, playing snooker with the boys, enjoying dart nights, or simply sharing a sociable with friends, he was happiest when surrounded by people. The Legion wasn't just a place he went; it was a community he proudly helped build. Family and friends meant everything to Mike. He loved garage parties, backyard games, BBQs, cookouts, and any gathering that brought everyone together. He truly enjoyed his many trips to the cottage in Quebec with his wife Angela, family and friends. Those trips were some of the happiest times, casting lines, heading into town to do a little gambling at the slot machines and just enjoying quality time relaxing. A true foodie with a passion for cooking, he proudly earned the title of "Poppy's the Best Cooker". If Mike was at the grill, no one went home hungry, and everyone left with a full stomach, a smile, and another great memory. Mike's sense of humor, generous heart, and love for bringing people together will be deeply missed, but the laughter, stories, and memories he leaves behind will live on in all who knew and loved him.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 11:45 am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy in the Cresmount Chapel at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, a charity that was close to Mike’s heart, would be sincerely appreciated.
