Murray, in his 59th year, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Monday May 27th at the Juravinski Hospital after a brief illness. Born December 10th, 1965, in Hamilton to the late William and late Veronica (Shea) Reidy. Deeply loved brother to James Reidy, Donald Reidy (Jennifer Phillipchuk) and Jeri-Ann Abbott (David). Cherished uncle of Amy, Spencer, Blake, Elizabeth and Bronte. Loving family member to countless aunts, uncles and cousins. Good friend to anyone who shared a good joke, story and a raucous laugh. Predeceased by his parents, niece Kethry, sister-in-law Mary-Jane and numerous members of his massive and much-loved Irish-Catholic families. Always a supporter of “the home team”, Murray always rooted for the Maple Leafs, Tiger Cats, Bulldogs, Blue Jays and Raptors. A gastronome, he enjoyed preparing and eating food with gusto, often declaring meals as “Fabuloso!” He played his own, unique version of Solitaire that no one knew or understood but he wore out countless decks of cards in the process. Deeply faithful, he prayed daily from a pure, loving and kind heart, and always for others more than himself. Murray enjoyed reminiscing about countless family reunions, trips to the family cottage, his time at Vincent Massey school and his Faith and Light group. Murray believed in helping others and devotedly helped family when in need and volunteered in the community while he was able. Murray’s family wish to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff of ICU at the Juravinski Hospital for excellent care of Murray and our family through this very difficult time. As Murray would say, “You are our heros”. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, ON L8K 1V7 on Monday June 3rd , 2024 from 1 pm until the time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3pm. Reception to follow. Private family burial. In lieu of flowers, it would be most meaningful to Murray for donations to go to the Down Syndrome Association of Ontario or your charity of choice.
“A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says ‘grieve not for me’.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I had, while I was strong.” ~ Unknown
