Myrna Patricia Cumberbatch

Beloved sister of Maureen and her husband, Trevor Carrington, and the late Ken Cumberbatch, Myrna will be forever cherished by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends in Canada, England, and Barbados.

Born and raised in Barbados, Myrna treasured the memories of her childhood and the experiences that shaped the remarkable and versatile woman she became. She later moved to England, where she pursued her nursing education and training. Nursing was more than a profession to Myrna; it was her calling. Throughout her life, she cared for others with compassion, kindness, and unwavering dedication. The lifelong friendships she formed during those years became like family, with bonds that continued through generations.

Myrna was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a gift for needlework and sewing, often creating her own beautiful clothing. One of her proudest projects was sewing a special prom dress for her niece, a cherished expression of her love and creativity.

Always impeccably dressed, Myrna took pride in presenting herself with elegance and grace. Artistic and musical, she found great joy in singing with choirs and sharing her talents with others. She was also well known for her homemade remedies and unique healing concoctions. Her familiar words, "Here, take some," became her affectionate way of helping anyone who wasn't feeling well. While only God truly knew what was in her remedies, those who loved her knew they were always given with care and concern.

Myrna had a deep love of travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world, especially the Caribbean, where she delighted in sunshine, beautiful scenery, and countless cruises. Never one to stop learning, she proudly learned to drive later in life, proving that determination has no age limit. Honest, straightforward, and wonderfully unfiltered, Myrna always spoke her mind. Her sincerity was one of her most endearing qualities, and those who knew her always appreciated that they never had to wonder where they stood.

Above all, her faith remained strong and steadfast throughout her life, guiding her words, her actions, and her compassionate heart. Myrna leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, faith, and service. May the kindness she showed to others continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her, and may she rest in eternal peace.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ressam Gardens for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown to Myrna during her time there.

Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at MacNab Street Presbyterian Church, 116 MacNab Street South, Hamilton, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1895 Main Street West, Hamilton.
