(May 2, 1978 – January 3, 2026)
It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved Nicholas Groppo passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, in his 48th year.
Nicholas grew up in Hamilton and attended Holy Family Elementary School and Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School. He pursued post-secondary education at Mohawk College and became an electrician.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humour, his beautiful smile and for always making you feel like you were special to him. He was a family man, who valued them first before anything else. He had a passion for sports – cheering on his Buffalo Bills, Boston Bruins and Juventus. He loved to sing and make people laugh. He lit up every room he entered.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Christina Groppo; his children Nicholas, Domenic and Gia. He will be deeply missed by his mother and father, Lisa and Peter Groppo. He was the beloved son-in-law to Pam Sienna, Mike Sienna and Anne D'Ambrosio-Sienna. Dear grandson to Anna Bortolin. Proud brother to his siblings Gabe Groppo (Jennifer Urech), and Michael Groppo (Rachel Groppo). Brother in-law to Paul Sienna, Kim Sienna, Bill D'Ambrosio (Haeley), Jessica Sabec (Johnny), and Joey D'Ambrosio (Cristina). Fun loving uncle to his nieces and nephews; Rosa-Nina, Fielding, Wells, Lucas, Leah, Sebby, Gianna and Tony. He was preceded in death by his Nonno Marco Bortolin, Nonno Angelo and Nonna Giovannina Groppo, and Uncle Tony Groppo. He will be missed dearly by his countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
As per Nicholas's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1-5 PM at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Markey Dermody Funeral Home Chapel.
