

Born on October 20, 1939, in Bensonton, St. Ann, Jamaica, Olive was the daughter of the late Ivy May Green and Aubrey Livingston Francis. She attended Shortwood Teachers’ College in Jamaica before leaving Jamaica for Canada. She later made her home in Hamilton, Ontario, where she built her life and enjoyed a long career as a teacher.
Olive was a woman of faith with a strong connection to her family and community. Over the years, she was involved with the Afro-Canadian Caribbean Association and The Jamaica Foundation of Hamilton, serving as secretary at different times. Through her career, community involvement and the relationships she built throughout her life, Olive touched the lives of many.
Olive is lovingly remembered by her brother Winston (Pat), her sisters Marjorie (Denzel) and Blossom, as well as her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents and some of her siblings. Aunty Olive was deeply loved by her family and will be fondly remembered for her devotion to those she cared about, the friendships she cultivated and the many lives she touched throughout the years. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Olive’s wishes.
The family is grateful for the many expressions of love, kindness and support received during this difficult time. Memorial Service will be held at Peoples Church Hamilton, 510 Mohawk Rd W. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 am.
