My Deepest Condolences To the Mercer Family. Rick was like a Brother to me. We had done lots of thing together throughout the years.  Especially in the 90s together with our children. John and Rick were always close to my Wife Rose and my Family.
 Especially in our Hearts. Rick will truly be missed . He will alway be remembered and loved. By those who once knew him being a part of their lives.  I will definitely truly miss Rick.

I am so sad to hear of Rick's passing,  
Rick was such a sweetheart,  just a big teddy bear. He was always friendly, happy, smiling, and he never failed to greet me with a hug when popping in to my school.   We will all miss him so much.
To the family and friends of Rick, that I have never met, I have to say how very sorry I am for your loss, and I send my sincere condolences.
To John and Jessie, which I do have the privilege of knowing,  please know that my heart goes out to you at this time, and  words simply  cannot express how sad I feel for you both. 
You are in my thought and prayers.

     We lost touch  years ago after our time growing up on Hopkin's Court with you and brothers John and Dean,  but I recognized you right away in your photo -- fishing and hamming it up!  It brings back nearly lost memories of our earlier attempts at huntin', fishin' and campin', going to the Sportsman's Show -- you were always going on about "Goin' up to Durham, do some fishin'."  I imagine that you're there now and I'm sorry that we didn't connect again before you left.
     My condolences to  your brothers and your family that I've never met -- you are in my thoughts.  I am glad to read in the notes below that you've led a rich & loving life and  I am sure that you will be missed.

I remember Rick coming into the schools where I worked over the course of my Board career. He always greeted you with smile or a joking comment and put a smile on your face.. I was shocked to see the details of his passing. He was too young to go and very very unfortunate he didn’t get a chance to enjoy retirement. Cheers to you Rick and you will be missed by many Board staff.

Rick had a smile on his face when he walked into a room or in a school. It was pleasant to see him. Sat down and just talked about anything could be that problem he is going to fix or just about life itself. Rick will be missed very much around our schools. So very sorry to hear of the passing of Rick. I remember him from years gone by, he was always so much fun and full of laughter. My deepest condolences to the family.


I write this in sadness, as I remember Rick being so full of life, and never in an upset mood. He just made a plan and got the job done.

I talked with him the week before last, and he was in great spirits as he was planning to do the last of his touch-ups to his cottage , and I believe a hunting trip with one of his sons.

Nothing but condolences to his family as the name Mercer is known across the Board, and hope they always remember the good times with Rick; especially in the present sadness of his passing.

To my brother, I miss you already. You were my brother, my friend, and my coworker. Not too many people can say that. Rick please say hi to Mom and Dad. I love you so much. You have so many friends, its been crazy.  Thanks for all the memories. I'll never forget you. I will miss my morning coffee with you and our fights about who's work is going to get done first. To all the people that sent wishes, thank you all for your thoughts.

Jay and I met Lia and Rick at football, from there a friendship that we hold so dear to our hearts blossomed.  We have shared many laughs and memories with you both. It makes me happy to have met you both and have you as special friends.  We were blessed to have coached your son, had many get togethers and to also have you at our wedding.  We truly could not ask for better friends, with covid we are so sorry we couldn’t make it to your cottage.  Rick will be deeply missed, Lia be strong and cherish the love and memories, and may they guide you through this tough time.  We love you 😘
