Robert Joseph Aubin

Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Winnifred Aubin (2025), with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 28, 1930, he was the cherished son of the late Rene and Georgette Aubin.

He was a devoted father to Heidi Aubin-Lee and a loving stepfather to Cloverlyn Grant. Robert was a proud and cherished grandfather to Isaiah, Debbie, Sharon, Catherine, Roxine, Corey, and Carey, and was predeceased by his beloved grandson, John-Paul. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Jacqueline and Victor, and is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Florence, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Although born in Detroit, Robert was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, a city he proudly called home for most of his life. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and continued his commitment to service afterward as a member of the military reserve. He had a deep respect for civic responsibility and remained knowledgeable and passionate about serving his community throughout his life.

On July 29, 1967, Robert married the love of his life, Winnifred. Together they proudly owned and operated Aubin’s Grocer in Hamilton, where they became well known within the community. Robert also worked for many years as a glazier with Pittsburgh Glass and later served as a security guard at the hospital. He was a dedicated Steward with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) and was always willing to give his time to help others. Whether volunteering at Macassa Lodge or lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, Robert’s generosity and selflessness left a lasting impression on those around him.

Robert’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He served as an altar boy in his younger years, and his devotion to the church remained steadfast into adulthood. Following his retirement, he continued to give back by volunteering and serving at Blessed Sacrament Church, where his presence and commitment were deeply valued.

Robert loved to drive and especially treasured the many road trips he and Winnifred took throughout the United States and Canada, particularly to Florida and Louisiana. These adventures brought them great joy as they enjoyed the scenery, visited family, and discovered new places together.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional team at The Wellington for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Robert. A sincere thank you is also extended to Caring Hands Services for the outstanding one-on-one care and support they provided, which brought great comfort to both Robert and his family.

Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 East 37th Street on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
