It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Grant Ferguson at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in his 75th year. Bob was a proud, devoted and much-loved father to Danielle (Dwight) and Jesse (Lonnie), and forever connected to Debi Ferguson. He was a very proud grandfather to Kieran and Chloe, who brought him great joy. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Jo Anne Ferguson; daughter-in-law, Nicole Ferguson; best friend, Bob Sharpe; as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbours and friends.
Bob retired after a long career with Stelco, where he worked as a forklift driver and Health & Safety Representative. Never one to sit still for long, he later became a school bus driver. The things Bob loved most were family, motorcycles and music. Music was always big part of his life, and he was especially proud to be the drummer for his band, Burnt Rose.
Bob had a great sense of humour, a strong personality and a way of making sure life was never dull. He worked hard, kept busy and enjoyed a good laugh. He valued the people in his life, enjoyed the things that made him happy and, above all, lived life on his own terms. Those who knew Bob will remember his humour, his stories, is music and the unmistakable presence he brought with him wherever he went.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Bob’s life at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E., Hamilton, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life and sharing of memories will fittingly take place on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at Pub 309 (formerly TJ’s), 309 Crockett St., Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Fond memories, special photographs and messages of condolence may be shared below.
He certainly enjoyed the ride.
