Ronald Frederick Eastabrook

With great sadness we announce the passing of Ron Eastabrook in Hamilton on March 4, 2014 at the age of 75. Ron was born in Strathroy, Ontario on January 13, 1939, he was the third child of James and Rosella Eastabrook. Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Gillis) for 40 years. Loving father of Jamie (Colleen) and Jason (Michelle). Cherished papa of Kayla, Rosetta, Samantha, Jonathan and step-grandpa of Joshua and Victoria. Dear brother of Glenn (Shirley) of Kingston, ON and Caroline (Paul) of London, ON. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and in-laws in Nova Scotia. Also survived by son Guy and grandson Evan Eastabrook of Dartmouth, NS. Predeceased by his father and mother Jim and Rosella Eastabrook, his sister Barbara Prohaszka, his brother-in-law Charles Prohaszka and his niece Donna Prohaszka. Ron had managed K-Mart stores in Hamilton, Kitchener, Thunder Bay, Toronto and London ON; Winnipeg and Halifax before settling in Fredericton, NB with his wife and two sons. In 2012 they moved to Hamilton to be close to family. He was hardworking, a man of few words, loved and respected by all who knew him. Ron enjoyed his Saturday night card games with his dear friends in Fredericton, NB and ‘debating’ world issues with them. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 3pm. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
