Ron is reunited with his wife, June, whom he has missed since 2018. He was a loving Dad to Janine Charters (Terry), Peter Warren (Heather Rogers), and Jennifer Warren (Steve Wright) and a cherished Poppa to his granddaughters Christy Hawley (Bill), Carrie Charters (Eric Enright), Ariel Henry-Warren (Jacob), Portia Henry-Warren, Sophia Wright, and Jane Wright. Ron adored his three great-grandsons: Thomas, George and Zachary. He survived all his 7 siblings, and leaves behind his dear sister-in-law, Barbara Blowey (the late Ronald); his niece, Beverley Meincke; his brother-in-law, Bob Collison (the late Patricia) along with many nieces and nephews around the world.
Ron emigrated to Canada from England after his 2-year service with the Royal Air Force, and worked as an accountant at Otis Elevator, Canadian Canners, the Hamilton Board of Education, and finally the Halton Board where he achieved the role Superintendent of Business and Finance. In his retirement, Ron found great pleasure in overseeing the finances of several educational organizations including CODE and OPSOA.
Ron had many joys in life: he was a voracious reader, a talented gardener, and a dedicated fan of big band music. He took great delight in interacting with the youngest members of the family.
The family would like to give profound thanks to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights, from the dedicated and caring nursing and administrative staff to the loving family of caregivers in his Egerton home area. Special thanks also go to our caregivers from Bayshore Home Health, and in particular Ayo and Ayiyi in the past few weeks. Ron said it best himself a few months ago: “I couldn’t say enough prayers to thank God for the people here and what they do.”
Ron’s family will welcome friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Thursday August 1st from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will take place at St. Michael's Anglican Church, 1188 Fennell Ave. E. on Friday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michael's Restoration Fund, or to the Alzheimer's Society – an organization close to Ron’s heart – would be greatly appreciated by the family.
