She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Thorpe, in 1987. Family was the most important thing in Rosemary’s life. She took on the task of raising four young adults on her own after Dad died and she did it like a pro! Her children will miss their regular “check ins” with mom, whether it was a five-minute call (it was never 5 minutes) on the way home from work or a good old gab on a Saturday morning.
Mom will be deeply missed by Sheila (Jim) Riddle, Brian (Brenda) Thorpe, Theresa (Lennard) Price and Robert (Carly) Thorpe. Mom took so much pride and pleasure from her seven grandchildren! They put the light in her eyes and a smile on her face whenever she talked about them. Victoria (Lee), Mitchell, Adam, Franklin (Meghan), Margaret, Erin and Mason will forever remember and love their grandma. Her joy extended to her two great grandchildren, James and Penelope, who will be raised on stories of their great grandma. Mom leaves behind her two brothers Edward (Gail) and Robert (Dellarie), as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Mom is predeceased by our dad, her one love taken much too young, and her parents Clarence and Margaret McSorley.
Mom loved her Tuesday night bowling league until her health required her to sit back and watch her Habs, TiCats and Jays. She enjoyed Kiwanis Bingo with the kids and grands, and playing a game of cards if anyone was willing. Mom was a Registered Nurse who spent many years caring for babies at St. Joe’s NICU and later volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes church, or with the Good Shepherd. Special thank you to the staff of St. Joe’s Medical Step-Down unit and 4 CTU West for their care for Mom these last three weeks. Donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Centre, Hamilton.
