At 105 years Ruth thought the Lord had forgotten about her. On October 16th, she was called to her maker and is resting peacefully. Predeceased by her husband, James after 57 years of marriage, much loved mother to her only son, Jimmie (Robbie), and grandchildren, Leanne (Mark), Julie (Heather), and Jay, Great grandchildren, Daniel (Danielle), Taylor (Twyla), Tasha (Mark) and Michelle; great great grandchildren, Jacob and Jenny. Ruth was born in Oromocto, NB. She was orphaned at the age of 10, losing both parents and two younger sisters, and then her brother in the war. Ruth and Jim moved to Hamilton in 1952. Ruth had a full life! She had many friends and an abundance of energy, along with a great sense of humor. She retired from A&P, was active in St. John’s Church, loved to read, play games/cards, crosswords, bake. She was frugal but always dressed so fashionably. She only wanted an open casket if she looked good and the lining was mauve. We honoured her wishes. Cremation has taken place and a memorial and gathering to honour this remarkable strong woman will take place at the Cresmount Funeral Home, Hamilton on Sunday, November 3rd from 2-4pm.
Thank you to the staff at Extendicare for their care these past five years and Westmount Terrace and Arkledun where she was Queen Bee the previous ten years.
Mom will live on in our hearts forever!
