Ina and Jack loved to camp at Macomb Park. That is where they met my husband, Jim Henaghan. Jim and their daughter Janet became great friends. Jim invited them to move their camper to our property. Ina became a mentor to me. She helped me through my grief associated with the loss of my father in 1976, my mother in 1983 and my husband, Jim in 1999. They even attended his funeral service which meant so much to me. Ina loved our animals, especially our dogs. She also taught me the difference between knitting US style and European style which is much faster and easier. We had many long, intense conversations about many things. She was my special friend. I will always remember the good times we shared.

Ina was a friend for over 56 years. Ben worked under her
husband Jack in the data processing field,  Janet    was a flower
girl at our wedding.  
We  enjoyed our chatty and informative visits to the Bagchus home.
Pat often entertained furry cat host on her knee as she had tea.
Beautifully carved items from the Far  East evoked conversation
and warmed the atmosphere. 
When Pat received a graduation gift a pendant, Ina, after many years absent from school was able to translate Latin : No one confronts me without a challenge.
We consider this remarkable indeed!

Ina was a lasting friend, so intelligent and we miss her.

I went to Holland with Ina and Willem and had an incredible time with them. I was a neighbour and friend of the family in DDO and always appreciated the kindness offered by Ina and Jack to my family.

Mom loved animals and she loved music.
I love this picture in particular because it shows mom in her element, entertaining our dogs. This gives a pretty good picture of her personality.

Here are some random memories that stick out for me:

She could play piano reading directly from the sheet music and when I was young, we would sing along together.

She was very well read and could carry on a conversation with almost anybody about almost any topic.

Mom also had an incredible sense of humour and could laugh from the heart. She loved wordplay and some very dry jokes.

She also gave generously of her time, being very actively involved with Roxboro United Church. 

Before we had any computers at home, she would come to my high school and keep the computer lab open while we learned all about programming.

You will be missed, mom. Love always.

Willem, Aleida, and Janet I am truly sorry for your loss. I remember your mother from over 30 years ago. May her memory be a blessing to all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. May you know only happiness and blessings going forward. 

Ineke is my surviving mother's identical twin sister. They were born and lived together in the former Dutch East Indies through internment by the invading Japanese during the Second World War and, for a few years after, in the Netherlands until my mother emigrated to England and Ineke came to Canada. They always had an extraordinary identical twin bond. I got to know Ineke very well after my own much later immigration to Canada. Indeed, I called her "Ma" as opposed to "Mum" for my own mother who was known as Truus. Mum became more English than the English both in speech and behaviour while Ineke never lost her Dutch accent and sensibilities. They were kind and loving women who reverted to giggling Dutch teenagers in each other’s company. Mum sadly lost her mind several years ago. Ma kept hers until the very end. We spoke quite a bit during her final months before she very briefly had to go into a nursing home. It was Ma's heartfelt final wish that her children and grandchildren honour her love for them by showing the same to each other.

My Oma lived a full life spanning various continents,  filled with many friends, her fur babies and her beloved family.
Oma was genuinely interesting and although at times life handed her lemons , she mad some amazing lemonade out of it. She survived 4 years imprisonment during world war 2 in Indonesia at the hands of the Japs, lost her father and younger brother all before  she was 18. She went on to marry my Opa, the only man she was ever with until he passed away in 2008. She lost 2 little boys and many lovely animals in her lifetime. My Oma had resounding resiliency in the face of all of her set backs and losses. Oma never lost her sense of play, nor her sanity after everything she survived.

My Oma was my preverbal shelter in the time of  the storm. She was the face of kindness and the embodiment of grace.  She had more patience than anyone I have ever known. I can not once ever remember her raising her voice. Being in her presence made the world and all it’s darkness, bright.  Having had the privilege of spending a great amount of my life with my Oma, I can say time spent with her was so easy. She always made sure you felt welcomed around her. 
My Oma loved to do crafts with my younger sister and I, a habit which we very much still are in to. I have always admired and looked up to my Oma. She was my home and safe place in the world. I have gained so much wisdom and insight from that dinning room table in both Montreal and Hamilton. 
I know it is sad that you are not physically here right now but you have lots of people waiting to see you in heaven. 
The tea parties with my Oma will now have to be held with my head bowed in prayer. 
You will never be forgotten,  I cherish all of our time and memories made together. I love you with my whole soul.

My sincerest and heartfelt condolences at this time of supreme loss. I will always remember the warm welcome that I received any time that I would come by Baderwood (and my one-time day visit in Hamilton). As I have mentioned to Willem, I always felt that Ina was like an Aunt to me, a kinder and gentler Aunt than many of the ones that I had. I will also hold in my memory forever the camaraderie that she brought aboard our trip to Vermont in 1999 on the occasion of celebrating our 100th radio broadcast from the Rutland area. The highest tribute that can be paid to someone is that they will always be remembered fondly in the hearts and minds of those with whom they have interacted during their life, and in that regard, Ina will always be in mine.  

Mom was a warm, kind and gentle woman. Rarely spoke a harsh word.  Loved to talk about current affairs and the biggest surprise to me, thriller movies.
 We spent many days and nights chatting over a beverage at her dining room table about a wide range of topics.
She had a fine appreciation of the arts ( toured museums on her honeymoon!).  Mom enjoyed playing her piano and endured listening to me learn to play...not so good but she was encouraging.
She loved nature and the outdoors, specifically camping.
She had many cats and dogs over the years.  More recently, she loved her fur baby cat Gracie.
I will miss her warm welcoming spirit.
