Stefan Gavrila Kun

Born on January 17, 1948 in Kolozsvar, Romania, Stefan spent his early years there with his family. In 1984, he and his family came to Canada to begin a new chapter in their lives.

He met the love of his life, his wife, when they were both young. They shared more than 53 years of marriage, building a life together filled with love, family, and countless memories.

He was the proud father of daughter Eva (Kun) Skupien and son Csaba Robert Kun. A loving father-in-law to Arthur Skupien and Georgina Levesque-Kun, and a cherished grandfather to Erika, Leela, Daniel, Owen, and Mason.

His family was the most important thing in the world to him. He took great pride in making sure that everyone was cared for and loved, and his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Over the years, they shared many special celebrations, family gatherings, and vacations together; memories that will be treasured forever.

Throughout his working life, both in Romania and Canada, he worked as a machinist and tool and die maker. He was an exceptionally handy and capable person who could fix or build just about anything. He repaired his own cars, took on construction projects, and could always find a way to solve whatever problem came his way. He took pride in his work and in being able to provide for and help his family.

He also had a deep love of fishing and the outdoors, enjoying the peace and time spent in nature.

For approximately five years, he lived with kidney disease and received dialysis. After complications from his treatment, his health began to decline in early July. He spent much of his final weeks in hospital before passing away on September 6th.

Stefan considered himself a very lucky man not because of material things, but because of the loving and close family he had built.

He was grateful for the life he had lived, the memories he had made, and, above all, for the people he loved. His love, generosity, practical wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family will remain with them always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
