Vivian Edith Wells

      If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Vivian Edith Wells. She was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to her because she was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around her had whatever they needed. Vivian was a talkative person who was tactful at all times but typically said what she meant.

      Vivian was born on Hamilton in Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Edward and Edith Ammerman. Vivian was raised in Hamilton and Simcoe, Ontario. During her childhood she learned to be reliable and respectful. Vivian was an obedient child who wanted to win the favour of others. She found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Vivian's personality throughout her life.

      Though Vivian was frequently the one to initiate games and activities with her family, she was also quite often the family member who took the role of referee. Vivian was a peace-maker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, Vivian worked conscientiously to keep those typical family spats at bay. Vivian was raised with 8. Earl, John, David, Robert, Louisa, Keith, Karen, Kim. Vivian and her siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another.

      As someone who revelled in the sheer joy of her experiences, Vivian was always enthusiastic about new adventures. Although she had an exacting nature, Vivian was always tactful. One thing Vivian will certainly be remembered for is that, when she got up in the mornings, she was ready and raring to go. As a young girl, Vivian had a number of interests and was an active child. In her spare time she liked to sing, roller skate, and dance. Vivian's memorable achievements included raising 8 children on her own, singing and playing the piano and Hawaiian guitar.

      There was one thing that all of Vivian's friends knew and will still remember, and that is that she was a talker. She could pretty much talk to anybody about anything. This quality is one of the primary reasons that Vivian was such a popular person throughout her life. But Vivian was also dependable, loyal and trustworthy. Vivian was the kind of person who simply radiated good fellowship. While she maintained personal standards and her own personal values, Vivian was very accepting of others. With a distinct skill for working things out, Vivian was often the person who would organize events. In fact, Vivian was fairly comfortable playing the role of “host” for just about any occasion. When Vivian made friends, she made true and lasting friendships. Later in life, she became friends with Barb Andrews/Zinger, Sandy Dyer, Carol Buckingham, Barb Steel, and Doreen Burke.

      Vivian was a faithful and loving person. Some would even call her sentimental and a romantic at heart. Her kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around her. Vivian cared for what others thought and carried that into her marriage. Compassionate and devoted, Vivian worked hard to make her new life partner happy.

      Harmony was important to Vivian and she made every effort to maintain it with her family. Vivian was blessed with 8 children, four girls, Sharon, Carol, Julie, Cindy and four boys, Len, Kevin, Earl, Richie. They were also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Grandchildren, Christine, Stacey, Crystal, Randy, Alex, Shaun, Amy, Lisa, Jennifer, Luke Jessica, Joshua, Krista, Ashley, Felicia, and Kevin. Great grandchildren, Conner, Samantha, Jordan, Joshua, Madison, Brayden, Angie, Machenzie, Katie, John, Blake, Christopher, Gianna, Faith, Dominick, Chloe, Kharma, and Logan. Great great grandchild, Annabelle. Vivian was always conscious of the feelings others had. She was reasonable and understanding. As a result, Vivian was quick to solve disputes and did so without much fuss. Her secret of success in this area was simple: Vivian would listen before she would act and family was always first.

      Taking her work seriously came naturally to Vivian, and she expected the same from those around her. Vivian was a good team player, someone who was born to cooperate with others. She was what some would call a “people person” and it was demonstrated in her good communication skills. Vivian was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. The kind of details that would give family members and work colleagues fits were situations that Vivian handled well. She could understand the details without getting lost in the broad “big picture.” Her primary occupation was waitress. She was employed for ED Smith, Wards restaurant, Teamsters and HSR. She brought harmony and laughter to her work environment, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done, while always maintaining respect for her colleagues.

      A methodical woman, Vivian enjoyed spending time working on her various hobbies. She had no problem following all of the steps and instructions on a given project and was proud of the fact that she could have something to show for her efforts. Her favourite pursuits were tenpin bowling, roller skating, darts, casino, bingo, game shows, boardgames and cards.

      Vivian was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth her best effort. Nowhere was that more visible than in sports. Vivian was always enthusiastic and a great team player. Recreational sports included darts, roller skating, and bowling. Vivian also liked being a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite teams whenever she got the opportunity.

     Her keen interest in things that affected the lives of other people led Vivian to become actively involved in professional and community organizations. Because she was outgoing and worked well with others, Vivian did her fair share of volunteer work. And she wouldn’t shy away from taking the lead on committees or events, either. She was a born list maker and was great at creating and sticking to schedules. Throughout her later years, Vivian was an active member of the RHLI, vets and legion.

     Her high moral standards and traditional values served Vivian well with her faith. Religion and faith were important to her. She was a member of Central Tabernacle Church in her youth and younger adult life. She was well respected because she was such an outgoing individual who sought to help in any manner she could.

      Vivian dreamed of travelling with England her main goal. Favourite vacations included England meeting family and Florida visiting with friends and family. When Vivian had the chance to travel these were surprise vacations given as gifts from her family.

      Vivian was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Beau, who was a best friend for 4 years.

      Since it was easy for Vivian to meet and get to know new people, she quickly made friends, even in retirement. Once she met those new friends, she loved sharing stories and talking about the good old days. Since she was practical and cost effective, Vivian retired in 1966 due to her health. Her new life continued in Hamilton, Ontario retirement, she found new pleasure in TV Bingo, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, going to the casino, mostly enjoying time with her family. Even in retirement, Vivian stayed in touch with her old friends and made plenty of new acquaintances. She was active in the community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities that retirement offered her.

      Vivian passed away on March 11, 2015 at Juravinski Hospital previously Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. Vivian fought back from a car accident, heart operation, stomach aneurysm, and cancer of the liver. Mom passed due to Aspiration and COPD. She is survived by her 8 children, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 brothers and 3 sisters Services were held at Cresmount Funeral Home on Fennell Street in Hamilton, Ontario. Vivian was laid to rest in Bayview Mausoleum, Burlington, Ontario.

      Vivian was a fantastic conversationalist who could engage just about anyone in a discussion. And whenever she said something, she meant it. Vivian was a down to earth person, outgoing and gregarious. She was without question the type of person who enjoyed experiencing things first hand. She was practical and sensible, but what friends and family will remember her for most is the fact that she was so understanding and kind but mostly her love for her family. Everyone whose life she touched will miss Vivian Edith Wells.

Peacefully on March 11, 2015 in her 84th year. Loving mother to Sharon (Wayne), Carol (Don), Len (Sylvia), Kevin (Maryann), Julie (Bill), Earl (Leah), Richard (Darlene) and Cindy (Pierre). She will be so dearly missed by her 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand child. Dear sister to David, Louise, Keith, Karen, Kim, the late Earl, the late John and the late Robert. Her family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday March 16th, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by her family. "Family isn't an important thing. IT'S EVERYTHING"
