Many great memories with one of the nicest guys in the East end...I still clearly remember how excited Walter was when we went up the hill to pick up Kingston for the very 1st time...we  were all so young and would often meet up at Fairfield school  and head  out for a night of partying...from home to home  and back to the back yard shed...we went from the quarries to fishing adventures to all the great tackle football games and back to a night of unknown...Walter buddy RIP...we will meet up one day . Richard if you get  this message...I would love to hear from you...many years later.

Words cannot express the void in my heart that I have as a result of Walter's sudden and tragic death. I have never met someone as sincere or selfless as Walter. I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Walter's passing. I worked with him about 13 years ago at the Kiwanis club. I have fond memories of his kindness and laughter, and the respect he showed the clients in our care.  He talked with pride about his grandchildren and always had new pictures of them to share. 
I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers and hope they can find some comfort in knowing how highly people thought of Walter.

Alison, my heart goes out to you and your family. It's hardest for those left behind and I pray that all of you find strength in the love that you shared.

With heavy hearts we were so saddened to hear of Walter's passing.  We lived beside Walter and his family on Rosslyn Ave. South for about 4 years and he was a wonderful neighbour and great person so full of life.  He was hard working and always willing to chat and just shoot the breeze.  I remember we shared a great day with him as we joined in and built a new fence between our two yards one summer... we had a blast with him and his family that day, great company and great food!  He loved all of his children/grandchildren as he always talked highly of them.  We will never forget him.  Sincere Sympathy for all of his family members from Ruth, Rene, Alex and Andrew Gauthier. Walter was a guy you would NEVER forget after meeting him. We got to be friends at Ballard school and stayed friends through high school then lost touch. I would run into him at the ti-cat games over the years If he seen me first he would yell my name from a block away with the nick name he gave me in school which made everyone stop  and you instantly new it was Walt. A hundred people in the crowd would look around to see what all the commotion was but it was just Walt yelling out If I said the nick name you would under stand why everyone around took pause But that was one of the best things about Walt .Then his thundering laugh would follow knowing he just put you on the spot.I would yell back to him as well and we catch up with a brief chat. I don't think about to many people from my school years but Walt was some one I thought about often as time went on. He was one of a kind. My deepest condolences to the families Rest in peace old pal.
